Layette of infant and tips for presents

Layette

This word is running in the head of many parents before the kids is going to be born and I have to say that I had to solve this issue really fast. Since I did not have much time left between my arrival back home, finishing my studies and delivering my son.

And I was really happy to hear from my friends who had already kids and could have shared with me some practical things and now I can share with you.

I want to emphasize the issue of the clothes. Since my son is already 4 month I can look back and evaluate how I was prepared and what of the layette was really needed and what was too much already. I will just make few points which I consider the most important when making layette

your baby is growing hell fast so if you can borrow as much clothes as possible from your friends than do it, to buy new clothes is senseless, your lying baby will not destroy that so even if you borrow some peaces than good.

consider that you will need to have few peaces (I would say about 10-20 paces can be good ) because you will change your baby few times per day (sometimes you are not lucky and poo goes out of diaper,  sometimes he drills) there are many sometimes :) of this and that.

  • bodyif you buy the clothes that start with size 50-56 (it means length of your baby), standard size of newborn is about 50 cm and cca 3kg. and in nowadays maybe size of 62 also. Since recent babies are a bit bigger :)
  • you should consider also that they do not like much to put things over their head so if you can buy the clothes with many buttons than prefer that rather the other which you have to put over his had. You should have buttons or pins also from the button to be able easily access diaper which needs to be changed and you do not have to dress and undress your baby always when it is pooed. I would recommend you this shirt called “body or onesie” . You can dress it on your baby without any problem.
  • overalIf you buy upper layer keep in the mind same features as for the onesie.
  • You might need also some pullover if the weather is cooler, than small cotton cap.

Keep in your mind that newborn babies has really bad thermoregulation so even you might feel warm your baby will feel cold. And you can easily recognize that if you touche their nose and sometimes feet or hands can help you also.

There are planty of other little things to consider when preparing layette but I will write about them later.

How to make a baby swing at home – good tip

Home swing

I just made my son fall asleep to be able to share with you fast one good tip how to make the home swing from the car seat or cradle. It is pretty much easy and does great job. If you see that your baby is tired and his eyes are closing and you do not want to carry him all day long to make him sleep, you can create this nice swing at home just with usage 5 things.

What will you need:

  1. hook for the roof or door frame
  2. snap hook for the connection between rope and cradle
  3. rope – good is climbing rope, strong and a bit flexible
  4. cradle
  5. scrue driver or driller

And the result is as follows, see the pictures

And this swing can be used also as great play time. Edie really love that and I am throwing ball to him or just making faces on him and he is laughing a lot all the time.

Era of trolley is over………carrier rock the world :)

Juchuuuuuu :)

carrierFour month of Edie’s life passed and time for carrier came to present. Finally I do not have to push the trolley and be caring the baby. My son was curious baby since he was born but as his vision was improving he did not want to stay in the trolley anymore and by loud cry he was saying me …………….”please take me out moooooom”. So I understood quite clearly that the time of trolley is over and I do have to buy carrier which will enable him to see what is happening around him. He just wants to see the world. Nothing bad about that. It is just a bit more demanding for us as parents to keep carrying him.

But definitely since we started to carry him in the carrier he became the most happiest DSCN2218baby in the world. He is not crying anymore and he is just observing and absorbing by all his senses the stimulus of nature and close surroundings. And our hand became free and we can walk hand in hand with my husband after long time.

I can strongly recomend to you this carriers if your baby does not like to be in deep trolley or be carried in the wrap (special scarfs). Edie hated that but now is happy.

Carriers rock the world and safe the parents hands :)

How to choose a good trolley……..tips from life:)

Dear parents, 

I believe that you are preparing yourself for arrival of your baby that little sunchine which will make your life brighter and happier. As I am new mom for about 3 month now I would like to share with you few tips before you will consider to buy trolley for your little one. 

IMG_0468There are thousands of trolleys in the offer and I do rememebr when I was still pregnant and tried to investigate which one is good, how it should look like which features it should have etc…………..I think you know that and feel the same mess in your head as I had when I was in your shoes :)


But what is important to consider is this:

  • would you like to buy trolley or you will teach your baby to be carried?  This you should solve ahead enough because if you will not have started with scarf or carriers early enough (after the baby is born) I can guarantee you that your baby will most probably not like it………it is different feeling for them in the trolley and being carried
  • how much MONEY would you like to invest – another important point,  I personaly do not believe that expensive trolley means high quality and I also proofed that already with my friends. So do not search trolleys according their price only
  • do you believe in BRANDS? this is up to you – I personaly not, I believe in utility value because I can have the most modern trolley but it can be unfonfortable for my baby and the most important babies do not care about the fashion, they just want to feel comfortable
  • WEIGHT – oh this is really important to consider. Depends if you have to carry the trolley up the stairs in the panel house as I have to…………56 stairs every day sometimes once sometimes few times per day…….and believe me trolley as itself has 15kg plus 5kg baby (so far) and you have easily 20kg without counting bag with simple equipment (diapers, cloathes to change, cosmetics, water for me… etc). So all count together I have to carry up and down the stairs waight about 25 kg….good gym isn’t it? :)
  • SIZE – this is particularly my case from life, when I bought the trolley I did not meassure the space which is left when the flats door is open and when I came home, happy that I bought new trolly, I could not enter my flat, because the door where to narrow………so please check first if your trolley will fit into the place where you want to storage it!
  • SERVICE VALUE – what I can recomend is trolley with the tires wheels and wheels spring because when Edie is tired and he has sometimes trouble to fall asleep we jsut start to strongly jump with him and he falls asleep immediately…..such easy and so simple. Another good thing is if you have insight of the trolllez special back which is made for that, because it makes the space smaller and infants are not lost there when they are little and second thing is that if he falls asleep and you can not take whole trolley indoor you just simply take the bag from insight without waiking him up. Another good thing is the car seat for infant which is compatible with your trolley, it is usually in threecombination trolley system. In this case you can easily move your baby from the car and than use the same seat as the part of your trolley.
  • CARRYING SPACE – from my personal experience is good to have big space under the trolley. Never knows how many things you will need to carry, such as daily kids needs plus your ordinary shopping and some another stuff such as your friends presents when you are going to visit them etc. So some free space is always handy :)
  • ADJUSTMENTs – ensure yourself that you can adjust the trolly according to your height. It is really uncomfortable if you have front holder either too high or too low. Your back will suffer!
  • SAFETY – check how stable is your trolley and consider where would you like to use it (just in the city or also in the countryside)…………I was driving Edie in the forest near by my grandparents house so I was happy that our trolley have big wheels. And also PROTECTION value. Is it well built to cope wit your local weather? In the central Europe we have all possible wather conditions from strong cold winters to really hot summers so it is good to know if the trolley can  protect your child when is strongly raining or snowing or against sun rayes. 

There are just few life prooved tips for you, I hope that they will help you when buying suitable trolley.

Did you forget scarf or carrier for your baby at home……there is simple tip to replace it

Hi dears, 

last time I was writing a bit about travelling and how important is to be prepared for your journey. But we will never be prepared for everything I guess or sometimes I am carrying too many things at once in my head that I used to forget some little details. So what happened in this time was that even I am aware that my son is curious a lot and he does not want to staz in the trolley for longer time and either me or my husband have to carry him in our arms, we forgot to take with us our scarf. 

The thing was that time of curiousness came pretty soon and our darling was crying in the trolley and he was shouting at us something…………”what the hell you are doing there, you can watch around and I can see maximum blue sky with coulds and from time to time tree leafs and I want to see what is happening out there alsooooooo”"…..so what happened was that Carlos took Edie into his arms and he started to smile and his head was turning all the way around like little owl. His eyes were widely opened and he was soo happy to see the world around. But int he meanwhile (learn that Edie has already more than 5 Kg) Carlos arms were becoming tired and I wanted to help him to solve this problem. So I took one of the white scarfs which we had in case that Edie will be drilling and dropping salivas and I tighet it around them……………..and It worked out and Edie could happily chew Carlos shoulder and keep wathich around and Carlos could relax his hands……..so if the case of emmergency appear also during your trip just try this. It should help you too.
